INSPECTION and TESTING

The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 together with the Health and Safety at Work legislation place a number of requirements on companies using compressed gas systems. Companies must:-

• Comply with best practice using equipment manufactured to recognised standards.
• Ensure that installations are to BCGA or other recognised Codes of Practice
• Have Written Schemes of Examination in place
• Impliment inspection plans
• Have evidence that equipment and pipelines have been annually tested
• Impliment remedial action

Competent Person

C.S.Milne engineers are, as defined by the regulations, competent persons qualified to survey existing installations and prepare Written Schemes of Examination.

A survey and pressure test will identify problems and corrective actions required. On compleation of remedial action a test certificate will be issued as proof that the pipeline and equipment complies with the regulations.

 

TESTING

Gas systems are required to be inspected and tested annually. Where the system remains unchanged from the previous test, the test can be at working (cylinder)pressure. If the system has been repaired or modified, then the test must be at 150% working pressure. As manufacturers we have the facilities to test at these high pressures in situ.

Repairs and Modifactions

Repairs and modifactions to equipment or the pipeline must be compatible with the design operating pressure of the system and must be tested accordingly.
